Lenny Niemeyer arrived in Rio de Janeiro in 1980. As she began her search for sophisticated bikinis, with the sensual allure of a Carioca, she ended up not only finding a new talent but a new career. She gave up trying to find bikinis, hired a seamstress, purchased small amounts of Lycra, and started to design swimsuits just as she had imagined. In 1993, after 10 years designing and manufacturing for other brands, Lenny decided to open her own store in Ipanema. She currently owns 18 stores in Brazil. Her annual runway shows are much anticipated events and are attended by supermodels including; Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Devon Aoki, Isabelle Fontana, and Isabel Goulart. Lenny was chosen to participate in 2009 Fashion Rocks along with designers March Jacobs and Donatella Versace. Lenny is featured regularly in all major fashion publications including; Vogue, Marie Claire and Elle and is worn by the likes of Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow. Lenny’s Summer 2010 collection is inspired by a woman flying through the clouds, gliding over sunny landscapes; collecting colors, textures and different cultures in search of her own identity.
