Designer Sonia Vera, a former model and actress who has graced the covers of Maxim, DT and FHM just to name a few, became a house hold name. What started as a hobby making swimwear and clothes for her and her celebrity friends quickly grew into a company. Sonia decided to pursue her dream as a designer and took a break from modeling and acting to run her own company Sonia Vera Swimwear. “I have been designing since I was in high school, I always knew that I was meant to do this” says the designer. Sonia Vera is quickly becoming known as a high end line with a twist to sexiness and sophistication, using beautiful fabrics and hardware from Italy and France. “I get my inspirations from the countries I visit around the world and the richness of the colors in nature”. Sonia’s objective is to make women feel that they have been taken to a far away place, feeling feminine, beautiful , sexy and comfortable in their skin. Most recently Sonia Vera Swimwear teamed up with MGM movie house, for “Pinkitude” a cancer awareness proceeds project that will donate a percentage of every Sonia Vera Swimwear sold, to the Susan G Komen cancer cure foundation. ‘This year’s collection is inspired by my travels to India; the endless beautiful sounds and sights of this humbling country with all its jewel tone colors and some of the most amazing textures.
